2017 Transfer Project Workshop

The Transfer Project Workshop was held in Dakar, Senegal from June 7 - 9, 2017. The workshop brought together social protection experts and stakeholders, including academics, government officials, UNICEF and FAO staff, NGOs, and development partners to discuss in-country experiences and lessons learned from gathering evidence on cash transfer programmes in Africa. The workshop aimed to increase awareness among participants of cross-regional evidence, identify of gaps for further research, and provide evidence-based recommendations for governments and supporting organizations in Africa and beyond.

The workshop was hosted by UNICEF West and Central Africa Regional Office (WCARO), UNICEF Innocenti and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), with Transfer Project partners from across UNICEF, FAO's From Protection to Production (PtoP) Project, Save the Children UK and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill leading various sessions.
