Marwa Ibrahim

Marwa is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Public Policy at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  Her research interests are health, labor, migration and development economics. She currently works on youth mobility and migration, and healthy ageing and adult caregiving, using experimental data from Malawi. Additionally, she examines the gender impacts of political targeting of the national cash transfer program in Peru. More broadly, Marwa has worked on research related to climate change in Africa, livelihood diversification among subsistence agricultural households in Malawi, and the impacts of affordable healthcare on U.S. labor markets. Prior to starting her PhD, she conducted macroeconomic policy research at the International Monetary Fund and the American University in Cairo. She has a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania and an M.A. from Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS).
